| The Community Support Program |
| State Street's long-term, sustainable success is linked to the strength of the global economy. We are committed to increasing the economic well-being of our communities around the world, especially by helping to equip the less-advantaged in our community with the resources they need to thrive and succeed. Each year State Street devotes a
percentage of its pre-tax profits to the State Street Foundation, a charitable trust that was established in 1977. The Foundation funds several of the programs managed by our Community Affairs Division. Through our Community Support Program, State Street makes effective and socially responsible contributions to non-profit charitable organizations that are addressing important
community needs, primarily in communities where State Street offices are located. The program is designed to help generate and sustain positive change in our communities, while complementing the development of our worldwide business operations. In 2007, the State Street Foundation supported the local efforts of nonprofit organisations through $18.2 million in grant
support. |
|
| Volunteerism |
| State Street has a long tradition of supporting our employees' involvement with community and civic activities by encouraging participation in company-sponsored programs, by helping match employees who wish to volunteer their time and expertise with charitable organizations and by providing employees the opportunity to devote two business days
per year to serve their communities. State Street also supports employee participation to charity events such as the Run Against Hunger (Action Against Hunger) or Trailwalker events around the world. |
